Client: Andy Walton
Brief: Branding & Promotional Material
Andy came to us with what originally seemed a simple brief, "come up with a name and design me a logo". What he actually meant was design me a lot of logo's, which we thought was very exiting!
Andy was set to start one of the most diverse clothing and fashion blogs on the net, hence the need for a diverse identity, with something for every taste. The core requirement behind this unusual brief was to build recognition through it's name rather than a specific logo or icon and to create intrigue through diversifying and randomising it's identity.
To meet the brief we had to develop a name that was memorable, not similar to anything related and not cliche to it's industry. Obviously it also had to be relevant. The chosen name was Spinyarn which, as well as relating to the actual production of clothing also links with 'to spin a yarn' which means to tell a tale, quite fitting for a blog we thought.
By using the categories from the blog we started by developing a logo for each, retro, classic, denim and designer for example we then had a little fun and developed a few of our own.
I was worried at first as my budget wasn't huge and I understand the time and effort that goes into developing a single logo, never mind several. The guys were great, and the outcome speaks for itself.
Andy Walton, Spinyarn
